Spring - Frühling

I love spring anywhere, 
but if I could choose I would always greet it in 
my Guildwood garden.

aber wenn ich wählen könnte, würde ich ihn in meinem Guildwood

For Mothers Day I planted a new tree ...

 

Happy Mothers Day to all the mom's out there. 

Wishing you all the love, peace and happiness 

that you all so rightfully deserve.

I remember my mother I lost as a child.

Sadness is also a part of love.

Earthday 2013

The wealth of the nation is its air, water, soil, forests, minerals, rivers, lakes, oceans, scenic beauty, wildlife habitats and biodiversity… that’s all there is. That’s the whole economy. That’s where all the economic activity and jobs come from. These biological systems are the sustaining wealth of the world.

Der Reichtum der Nation ist ihre Luft, Wasser, Böden, Wälder, Mineralien, Flüsse, Seen, Meere, landschaftlicher Schönheit, Artenvielfalt und Lebensräume von Wildtieren ... das ist alles. Das ist die ganze Wirtschaft. Das ist, wo die wirtschaftliche Tätigkeit und Arbeitsplätze herkommen.  Diese biologischen Systeme erhalten den Reichtum der Welt.

 I am sleeping and dreaming 

but Gisela is very busy creating a new large garden in front of our house.  

Flowerbeds including many shade loving plants

will replace most of the large grassy areas. 

Perhaps a dry river bed will be installed as well.

Ich schlafe und träume, aber Gisela ist sehr beschäftigt mit der Anlage eines neuen Gartens vor unserem Haus. 

Blumenbeete, mit vielen Schattenpflanzen,

 werden die große Grasfläche ersetzen. Vielleicht ein trockenes Bachbett wird ebenfalls installiert. 

 Aktualisierung über meinen Fortschritt gibt's hier...

Chicken or Egg?

The Easter bunny was introduced to American folklore by the German settlers who arrived in the Pennsylvania Dutch country during the 1700s.
The arrival of the "Oschter Haws" was considered "childhood's greatest pleasure" next to a visit from Christ-Kindel on Christmas Eve.
The children believed that if they were good the "Oschter Haws" would lay a nest of coloured eggs.The children would build their nest in a secluded place in the home, the barn or the garden. Boys would use their caps and girls their bonnets to make the nests . The use of elaborate Easter baskets came later as the tradition of the Easter bunny spread through out the country.

is a perennial bulbous flowering plant of the family Hyacinthaceae.

Petals ranging from orange, red, yellow or rarely white, often with a green or brown centre. Flowers in winter or spring.

No winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn...

Kein Winter dauert für immer
Kein Frühling überspringt seine Wiederkehr.


Our first migrating birds arrived on the shoreline of Lake Ontario and our Guildwood parks.I observed American Robins (Turdus migratorius), 
Grackles (Quiscalus quiscula)and a large flock 
of over 25 Bohemian Waxwings(Bombycilla garrulus) 
feeding on small grab apples.
Flowering crocus and snowdrops are signs 
that spring is just around the corner.

Unsere ersten Zugvögel sind am Ontario See, sowie in unseren Guildwood Parks angekommen. Ich beobachtete American Robins, Purpur - Grackel 
(Quiscalus quiscula) and  eine große Anzahl von Seidenschwänzen (Bombycilla garrulus), die kleine Wildäpfeln fraßen.  
Blühende Krokus und Schneeglöckchen sind Zeichen, 
dass der Frühling, gerade um die Ecke ist.

No spring flowers in the garden...

Our garden is still covered with snow and  

we expect more snow showers for the next few days.

Yesterday, I bought a new handbag for spring with flowers.

Helleborus still bloom in our house.

Perhaps a few pink and white flowers in a vase.

Unser Garten ist immer noch mit Schnee bedeckt und wir erwarten noch mehrere Schneeschauer in den nächsten Tagen.

Gestern kaufte ich eine neue Handtasche für das Frühjahr, mit Blumen.

Die Christrosen blühen noch immer in unserem Haus und ein paar Blümchen, weiß und rosa in der Vase. 

Tina, das ist das Beste, was ich Dir heute bieten kann:)

Sempervivum - Hens and chicks collection in our garden

 

 During the last few year I have collected quite a number of  
Sempervivum -  hardy succulents a.k.a. Hens and chicks. 
I am always looking for unique planters to display my collection.

Während der letzten Jahre habe ich eine große Anzahl 
von Sempervivum (Semps) oder Hauswurzen, gesammelt. Ich suche immer nach interessanten Behältern, um meine Kollektion zu zeigen.

 

Last year I split a hollow tree stump as container for  
my new Sempervivum plants.
A few shells and rocks completed the project.

Letztes Jahr, zerlegte ich einen hohlen Baumstamm, 
als Gefäß für meine neuen Hauswurzen. 
Einige Muscheln und Steine, vervollständigten  das Projekt.

and grew quite quickly.
